Why Does He Get So Upset? |

I am wondering why some candidates get so upset when I point out simple facts that are true. For example, Paul Vallone is a registered lobbyist and his clients are predominantly real estate developers and big money special interests. See for yourself at www.nyc.gov/lobbyistsearch Search: Vallone Every time I point out the FACT that he is a registered lobbyist, Paul questions my integrity and claims that I am attacking his family. However, Paul continues to talk about overdevelopment without mentioning the fact that he works for some of the same developers we in the community have been fighting for years. As a former Securities and Exchange attorney, I understand the idea of "materiality." The seminal case regarding materiality in securities law is TSC Industries, Inc. v. Northway, Inc. 426 U.S. 438 (1976). Under the securities laws, it is illegal to sell securities "by means of an untrue statement of material fact or an omission to state a material fact necessary in order to make the statements made, in light of the circumstances under which they are made, not misleading." Paul continues to talk about overdevelopment without stating the material fact that he is a registered lobbyist for developers. It is wrong for a politician to sell himself to the public by omitting material facts about himself. THE FACT THAT PAUL VALLONE AND HIS FATHER ARE LOBBYISTS FOR GREEDY DEVELOPERS IS MATERIAL TO THE PEOPLE HE IS ASKING TO SUPPORT HIM! If Paul wants to to talk about over development he should tell the whole story. It's not an attack if its true! |

Paul Vallone, a registered lobbyist for real estate developers and real estate special interests, announced in the Queens Tribune today that he wants to be head of the City Council's Zoning Committee...isn't that special. If this doesn't illustrate that our political system is broken and that special interest money is busy buying our politicians then I don't know what else could.

The pace of the campaign has really sped up in the past few weeks. Yesterday I walked at Fort Totten park meeting friends and neighbors throughout the district. Listening to the hopes, dreams and concerns of various members within the community has inspired me to push and work harder each and every day. I am not running for myself, but I am running for each and every one of you. Recently I was endorsed by the Group Democracy for America, a group created by Democrat Howard Dean. Everyone throughout Northeast Queens and the wider City deserves the opportunity to be heard in government.
I look foward to the next few weeks with excitement and anticipation! |
